Will take it out and have a look. Should it sit flat say on a sheet of glass? Not having a correct one to compare with it'll be difficult to understand if it's bent, right?twin wrote:your clamp will be bent down at the back,

Picking up on this again since it's soon time to spray the scooter 
Clamp is out but I cant see how the clamp could be bent, it's very robust and thick iron, has this ever happened to anyone else?
Or is it more likely the headset that is damaged...?

Get a new clamp £9.85 from SR..... - you can always sell it for £20 on Ebay if it's not that.
Did you have to do that?

I had same problem and yes it was the clamp that was bent ....hard to believe because it is thick cast etc but only became apparent when comparing it with spare clamp I had .
