Its an engine mount issue with a cast LTH bought a month ago.Image

I have no problem with the quality of the Avanti (I love it) or the reedvalve (its a smashing piece of kit). I just couldnt make them live together on a sil gp200 casing but the avanti is on and running great and the reed valve is gone to a good home,

It is an LTH Vers 3.0 which is cast alloy NOT cnc'd Fitted to My Avanti Kit yes I did trim some fin's / reed manifold / engine mount...................Strangely enough I also had the Ver's 2.0 cnc'd which was fitted to my Rapido "250" that motor has a 110 rod on a 60 mm crank with a 3mm packer ( put's cylinder in different position.........Food for thought when I fit 60mm crank on Avanti)... :lol:.. That got superceded by the MBD reed Valve known as the shorty on MBD's web site.......So the LTH ver's 2.0 got fitted to an Li 125 fitted with an AF 175 kit bored to 185.......... That caused mega fettling and offset cones to clear...........Just shows how different tolerances can be on Lambretta's LOL............I also attempted to get the MBD reed valve to fit to the Avanti but no Luck at the moment..........But................... with a 110 rod 3mm packer and offset cones it just may fit........The performance of the MBD is streets ahead off the LTH but that is my opinion ..............
Hope that clears up any doubts as to whether a reed valve can be fitted

Just done 10 miles after building the engine from scratch...all new internals. I'm impressed. First couple of miles found it cutting out at odd times, drove it back home and fitted a fast flow tap and the problem appears to be solved. I've been using a 225 classic Rapido with standard Indian GP gearing. The Avanti has a standard GP box with a 46 crown and 20 tooth front sprocket giving a 4:6 final drive. The rapido is very quick through the gears but the Avanti just pulls for longer with no sign of stopping!! If i wasn't running it in i don't know if i'ld have made fourth !! It also pulls very smoothly compared to the Rapido. the longest stretch i've done is about 2 miles, with most of the driving being short stretches between r/abts and junctions. With a bit of decent weather i might get a decent run out one night this week.

What pipe and carb are you running.
I've got 380 miles on mine and it's got better and better.
Loosened up during the first 150 miles and seems to be giving more power every time I ride it.

Dyno time next week.

Ron Moss Clubman, open mouth 30mm PHBH (spaco....but not confident with it...might get a dellorto with filter), Rocco apprilla clutch, varitronic ignition, MEC 58mm full circle crank....

Just a reminder about ignition timing, will everyone please check their timing with a strobe as the timing marks can and normally are a mile out.

I paid Mr Moss a visit yesterday and was fortunate enough to be given the chance to take his Avanti up the road. I have to say that I was mightily impressed, it did exactly what it is advertised to do. Very clean at tickover and low speed trickeling (needed to get out of the farm) and out onto the road and open the throttle and it just accelerated with no hesitation whatsoever, very quick and smooth power delivery. On a steepish uphill section I put it in 4th at around 25 mph and wound the throttle right open expecting it to completely bog but it didn't. For sure it didn't accelerate very quickly in that particular situation but then you wouldn't expect anything to. It was unfortunately only a short run but I would say as a comparison it was quicker than the GTS 250 that I had arrived on and a damn site more fun 8-) Thanks again Ron, time to get saving 8-)

I've done around 500 miles on mine now and its been great ,although I have dropped the main jet to a 122 down from a 125 to help with acceleration.I have ordered a 124 but couldn't find a 123.

I think the 2nd to last peak on this graph show's how well it pulled to 70.I'm on a 30mm phbh and a ron clubman ,with a jet 200 gearbox.
