I've had problems with the S.I.P speedo for my Rally 200. I've gone through two now and am a little bit fecked off with it, especially as my original speedo worked fine. All the wiring and fitting was done by a very well respected full time scooter mechanic whose S.I.P speedo on his scooter also packed up, (P200.)
Speedo 1; Was fitted as per instructions, lasted for about 20 - 30 miles before it packed up on a long journey and wouldn't start again. Sent it off to S.I.P who replaced it.
Speedo 2; Didn't even last that long. Fitted it to scoot. Dialed in the tyre measurements and set it up. Turned the scooter off / turned it back on again and .....kapoot.
Checked the earth and regulator and a few other bits and bobs which seemed fine, but it just wouldn't work again. S.I.P apparently say that they've had no problems with them and can't shed any light why they're packing up. We thinks it's something to do with the little black regulator box in the headset. I don't think it can be the wiring as everything worked fine for a while the first time round and the bloke that fitted it is a true scooter guru who gives a quality service with pride and care. Complete mystery. It's getting one more chance then refund time.

I have been up in the loft, but didn't see the chimps. But that's not to say that they weren't there hidden away in what he affectionately calls his 'loft of shite'. Not complaining though as that's where he found the German Helmet front mudguard for Project Mong Machine.

Yes got instructions. Seems to be working ok, fingers crossed.
Worked fine to Modra and back. Scooter 10mph slower though!!
Anyone know what temperature it should be running at though?

Correct, the MPH is shown on the digital read out and what would have been the speed on an old type speedo is now the RPM.

Just fitted one to my Rally. The speed function has an adjustment feature to compensate for the number of splines on the speedo drive pinon and allows you to enter the tire circumference as well. I used a gps to fine tune to adjustment to get a spot on indicated speed. The only problem I had was the inner speedo cable was a tad short, so if it was extended all the way into the drive pinon it wouldn't engage the speedo itself, and conversely, if it was all the way in the speedo, it wouldn't engage the drive. Found the happy medium position, and it seems to work fine. I'm running it off the a/c, and the stator is only putting out around 10 volts but seems to be enough.
