Hi all,
I hope someone can help me before I buy a gallon of unleaded and a box of swan vestas!!! :( I have a g.p. 225 I bought a stage 4 top end from one one of the big dealers complete with crank, bearings,seals,30 mil dellorto and a revtour exhaust and all the gearing and bit's to completely rebuild including new engine casings, I've also replaced the flywheel with an af one and stator plate is a bgm one. I've had quite a bit of grief with it including an oval af flywheel,But I thought it was sorted but while on a run last sunday it died! It turned out to be the stator so I replaced it with a 120w bgm one, But I can't get a spark when I connect the cdi!
It sparks ok from the green wire from the stator(with or without the loom wire connected)
I've checked that all the earths are ok.
checked with a digital meter the red cable from the stator which read 112
checked the green cable from the stator which read 480
does anyone think the pick up could be faulty even though the continuity test shows it's ok?

Thanks All
John

Hi Martin,
It was running ok up until last sunday but the stator packed in so I put the bgm one on and the colour code should be the same white then red followed by the 2 greens, it's driving me mad?????

thanks

Hi John, was the stator you replaced a BGM one? I'm sure I've read somewhere about pick up alignment issues between AF flywheels and BGM stators. I think it was on the LCUSA site, perhaps MarkH on here may know.

Hi
no the other one wasn't a bgm but looking at the two of them placed together the pick ups look to be in the same place? I wonder if I should change the pick up though? even though the continuity test say's it's ok?

all the best

Tipex the magnets that are crossed over (fire the pick-up) and on the side of the pick-up (to line-up with the corresponding laminates that protrude from the pick-up). this way when you replace the flywheel the tipex marks on the side of the pick-up will line up with the crossed over magnets. if they are out of line, that could be your problem. Hope this helps  8-)
