Strangely, he was running a GP200 gearbox with something like 21/46 gearing....he said it flew in 3rd, but 4th was like an 'overdrive'....i suspect what was happening was that he'd overgeared it, and his 3rd was acting like a 4th gear would....and 4th gear would be practically defunct. We suggested he re-geared it to bring 4th gear into play.....but i think he'd got set in his ways and liked stretching it out in 3rd.....which seems to me like he's just missing a gear. You could see on the dyno it took a lot of revving to get going in 1st, and then 3rd gear was hitting 4th gear speeds.....i doubt 4th was much use on the road....or at least not as much use as it should be??
He aslo had a spare cylinder so we took some pics.....considering the conversion work, the rest of the ports were surprisingly tame......interesting project though, and nice to see something different:
