some folks posted this in a german scooterforum and i think its a top tip and far too good to be missed for english speaking lambrettisti:

6V battery-system and troubles with your original rectifier ?
get a modern kokusan rectifier. electronic and very small it fits in every series 3 or series 2
rectifier-box and works perfectly.
price: about 15.- gbp

the rectifier on the pic is from a varitronic and 12v

the kokusan rectificer is a little bigger, but it works...

That doesn't look as neat as the one J1MS renovated and posted up on here a while back....It involved a Maplin rectier.

Just a thought, but is there a possibility of that little regulator getting rather hot once the other half of the original box is fixed back in place????

Never really checked a regulator to see if they get that warm, but the aluminium finning makes me think that it's good to have air flow over them...

I'm probably completely wrong..... I usually am. :D

You're probably right, on the original 60's conversion they drilled holes all around the box and later decided that the rectifier would be better outside (exposed).
