Took this out of my mate's 34 Dellorto

Worst worn slide I've seen.

I haven't much experience with worn slides, what are the symptoms?

It was running ok, but a bit lumpy low down. I would have thought it would have run lean, but seems not. I suspect the needle is well worn as well and may be compensating.

Any thoughts anyone?

This engine is about 4/5 years old and does about 700 miles a year. It was built by well known scooter tuner and is jetted ever so slightly rich with a decent plug colour.

IT has been run on nothing but Premium fuels since new. I think this may be the problem.

I totally agree thats its prob due to running an open carb ,but thats just the price you pay for extra performance in most cases ...if youd rather not like excessive wear on such parts then get it set up with a filter ..but performance will undoubtably be down ...hence why you will never see a race scoot running a filter ..or very rarely :D

The tank is a toolbox twin tank conversion. I don't know who did it it's not my bike. I will investigate.

The bad thing is you can replace the slide etc but I think the plastic guide in the carb is not available so the slide still rattles around, but I could be wrong.Where was your mate riding ,a desert?

how about a dyno graph comparing a run with and without a filter sean, im sure a lot of people would be intrested
