Fair point, Col. And, yes, I' m damn certain there are plenty of very revvy Lammy engines with Ducati CDIs with no issues at all. But maybe, just maybe........ it does fix it and I don't have to lash out more hard earned cash.

Ah, the power of positive thinking ;-)

when you say "breaking up"....are you talking about a misfire? or power dropping off?....just out of interest what pipe are you using?

my bike is quite revvy and have been using Ducati CDI for 000s of miles; as you say, I am sure I am not alone in that.

Have to agree, had an AF on my RB started missing at High revs. Put a JB jobbie on there ie machined Indian, cured.

It's defo a misfire**, you could see it happening on the dyno. Pipe is a '90s Taffy Road so the equivalent of a JL3

Edit: I don't mean a misfire in the "backfire" sense, it's more like it just doesn't fire at all when it gets to a certain revs

:D , this seems to be a recurring theme, Ian ;)

I tried an older AF flywheel without the spacing washer today but still with the brass rivets. Unfortunately, it wasn't a known working flywheel. Again, it seemed to break up in roughly the same place :(

They do an "AFR" CDI which they believe may solve the issue. To be fair to them they did warn me of this when I bought the flywheel 18 months ago. Anyway, I've got one of them on order too.
Just tried the AFR CDI. Still the same. Will get hold of another flywheel next.
