Fair point, Col. And, yes, I' m damn certain there are plenty of very revvy Lammy engines with Ducati CDIs with no issues at all. But maybe, just maybe........ it does fix it and I don't have to lash out more hard earned cash.

when you say "breaking up"....are you talking about a misfire? or power dropping off?....just out of interest what pipe are you using?

my bike is quite revvy and have been using Ducati CDI for 000s of miles; as you say, I am sure I am not alone in that.storkfoot wrote:... there are plenty of very revvy Lammy engines with Ducati CDIs with no issues at all....
just try that Indian flywheel...
Have to agree, had an AF on my RB started missing at High revs. Put a JB jobbie on there ie machined Indian, cured.

It's defo a misfire**, you could see it happening on the dyno. Pipe is a '90s Taffy Road so the equivalent of a JL3camel wrote:when you say "breaking up"....are you talking about a misfire? or power dropping off?....just out of interest what pipe are you using?
Edit: I don't mean a misfire in the "backfire" sense, it's more like it just doesn't fire at all when it gets to a certain revs

I tried an older AF flywheel without the spacing washer today but still with the brass rivets. Unfortunately, it wasn't a known working flywheel. Again, it seemed to break up in roughly the same place
Had the same problem on my RB with a AF flywheel tried different stators, CDI's etc and was still the same
Changed the flywheel to a SIL one problem solved.

definitly a recurring theme................

Just tried the AFR CDI. Still the same. Will get hold of another flywheel next.storkfoot wrote:I've spoken to AF who did say this has happened before with their light flywheels and Ducati CDIs which are designed to run on low"ish" revving Vespas. They do an "AFR" CDI which they believe may solve the issue. To be fair to them they did warn me of this when I bought the flywheel 18 months ago. Anyway, I've got one of them on order too.
