looking for my first lambretta

3rd Piston, 1st Lambretta death, do we need to talk about oil and mixture or do you just thrash them till they die, Little less throttle and learn to listen to the sound they make just before they pop.
Glad to see the air filter kept the critter out, it could have blocked your exhaust...

I actually didn't ride the scooter until i found the correct measuring cup for it, its standard 200 cylinder, so I use a 3% mixture. When looking at the head and plug it didn't look lean enough to cause it to go bang. When i purchased this fine machine the gent told me that it had been rebuilt less than 20 miles before i bought it which leads me to believe that the person who rebuilt it didn't set the timing correctly, also leading to this assumption of poor rebuild is the fact that the clutch and shifting cables are routed incorrectly and tensioned poorly. I will soon be acquiring a TS1 kit and Fat Mamba exhaust. Which then i will go through the whole engine to make sure its all set up correctly and re-time it :bigsm:

compared to some of the gents here i am a infant ahaha. i am just really good at breaking things so i get thrown into learning how to fix my problems

Josh I'm up in Rancho Bernardo, if you need anything give a shout / PM. Sounds like you have a decent handle on it but I'd be happy to share which shops are good at what and give any advice from the many mistakes I've made on mine.

Do you ride with any of the locals? I know some Secret Society folks and a few Pharoahs.

Take it to Barry SFSC, he'll get you straight. or, any of the other LCUSA members in Frisco for that matter.

DLO, Jimbo here. Most of us Black Sheep know our way around a bretta, true. But if homey is in Sanjego why send him up to Frisco? West Coast Lambretta Works still works on bikes, no? Anyhow, that hole looks about as big as a .45 cal slug would make. Damn! I remember my first holed piston. I will concur with what someone else said on this thread earlier. The LCUSA is a great club and a solid group of folks there willing to help fellow lammy kin. Get on there, get active and have a great time. Notice I'm on here cause this is a great board too. Nothing too wrong with Spanish 200's but if your taking her down to the ground I suggest getting rid of the crap eastern block bearings. While your at it, pick up a decent GP crank and an electronic kit. In the US you've got some great options for mail order if WCLW can't sort you out. Here's a quick list. Jet200.com, Casalambrettausa, Scooteroriginali. All three are top notch folks and scooterists to boot. Have fun and let's see more pics please.
