Hi mates,
this gear set up should have 4,99 as final ratio, is it a good choice?

I'm searching for a tourer set-up with torque.

Thanx

the thing with gearing is you have to find what works for you ....so its trial and error really....see how you get on with it :D

I had 17/46 with a Devtour and it was awful into headwinds and uphill, I changed to 16/47 and I love it, I'm 12 stone ish and don't ride two up with loads of luggage.
Hope this helps ;-)

I'm running a SX200 box and standard sprockets on my TS and love it, sure if I drop revs I have to drop a gear but love the re rush of taking off again, changing down at approx 60 and leaving some vespas coming up behind me coming home from Mersea down the A12 was a high light! :D

I've also got a standard 4 plate clutch, some old crappy springs I found in my box of bits, old chain tensioner, old stretched chain and I treat it with the utmost disrespect, flys along!

Should have mentioned the 32mm delly Vhsa and crappy old NK modded to run on a rubber mount cos its so old that its starting to fracture all over the place, I've lost the end can three times recently!

I like this combination (16/47LI150). Ran it in my own TS and have built more than a few for customers.
Don't use stretched chains in anything so wouldn't consider 16/46. 17/46 as Mike says is a little tall.

Built my mate Roy a TS engine with this set up and Dev tour exhaust. He loves it! It accelerates very well and is short enough to tour loaded with luggage. Used 81 link chain (don't like stretched chains)

Remember that you can use Variochain from LTH for configurations that need stretched chains.
