Ok chaps I wonder if anyone can help (I did a search but nowt obvious was found)
I am toying with the idea of fitting an expansion chamber and new carb …. Nothing unusual about that I guess, but…
I have a series 2 frame with a GP200 engine and I was wondering if anyone has a similar setup and could divulge what expansion they use?
I don’t mind chopping the rear footboard a bit but I’m in no way hacking about with the side panels.
I have been looking at the ScootRS pipe that seems popular (read cheap – despite having some detractors LOL) but it looks to me that it will only work on a slimstyle and would possibly foul the side panel of a series 2?
Ideally I would like to know where the inner edge of the silencer is in relation to the GP engine casing (then I can work out if it fits). Anyway I’ll have a measure up when I spy someone with one.
Thanks for any info.
Expansion on Series 2 with GP engine?
Ok to add more confusion
ScootRS do an expansion for Series2 engines but their photos (except for the pic of the bike) show the same series 3 engine! I.E their photos are not correct for their Series 2 exhaust.
So a question…. Would a ‘Series 2’ exhaust fit on a GP engine?
I.E is the manifold spacing/size the same and the mounting to the casing? My guess is no but I thought I would ask anyway.
Thanks
EDIT
Their Series 3 exhaust http://scootrs.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=15
Their Series 2 exhaust http://scootrs.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=782
Spot the difference lol

Don't know is this helps, but I've got a Saigon Scooters Fresco in Stainless Steel that is for a Series 2. Not fitted it, so cannot comment about fit or performance. It's dead shiny though.. !!

Thanx guys
Hey that extra cutout looks good - proper job . com
I have emailed ScootRS for a bit of top support ... lets see what comes back

Guys sorry too be a pain in the arse but can I ask a clarifying question for those in the know...before I part with £££
Assuming the engines are NOT in the scooters...(so no body clash issues)
Q will a Series 3 GP200 exhaust fit on any Series 2 engine?
and of course the converse.... will a Series 2 exhaust fit on any Series 3 engine?
I.e im basically asking if the manifold and mounting to the casings are identical?
Im being told they are (By ScootRS) but i'm having trouble believing it. Its just a hunch really. But, seriously, did Lambretta/Innocenti make NO changes to this layout over the years?
I know the internals are different (GP crank etc) but seriously.. no changes externally?
Thanks dudes

i run a series 3 jl on my gp225 in my series 1 and it fouls the panel slightly.
all expansions will fit all li style engines
all expansions will fit all li style engines

Thanks Mark....
The reason I asked is because ScootRS sell a Series 2 expansion and tell me that it will fit on my GP200 engine. The end pipe is different to their Series 3 exhaust so as not to foul the body.
If so its good news... being a synical bugger I assumed that there was a 'lost in translation' issue.
However, you are confirming what they say is correct.
Thanks again
i ran a scootrs s3 type pipe on my s2, i had to cut off the end of the floorboard (as far as where the bracket sits) and i was running a stiff (R6) shock.. and it did rub slightly on the lip that goes round the kickstart cutout in the panel.. it rubbed a groove in the alloy end can and also took the paint off where it touched the panel..
thus it was not perfect, but useable..
my understanding is that the difference in s2 and s3 type scootrs pipes is where then can sits, and thats it..
any pipe should fit all s2/s3/gp engines, its just where the bodywork sits that is the issue..
