The Lambretta SIP rims are the same width as standard split rims, available end of May... apparently.

I think the Germans have much more strict - and more expensive - rules on marketing new parts. It may just be to avoid the expense of "type approval" or whatever they call it.

Do you mean he has Vespa or Lambretta rims?

I think it says "Race Use Only" on most of there own stuff, the quality is superb but it does make you wonder how you stand on insurance :-?

They are vespa ones and yes they look excellent quality.
But that sounds to me passing the buck for any manufacturing or design faults.

Out of interest, are they the polished alloy finish and if so, do you know if they have a clear coating or are they bare metal?

Sylvie at SIP emailed me today to say the rims are going to be at east another 2 weeks unfortunately.
The rims had to have a major redesign and they are still testing the prototype. Once they are happy they can start production.
Frustrating for everyone but nice to know they aren't being rushed out with unsolved problems.
