intake manifolds

got a little problem,i`m ready to see sean & dan this sat to set carb up but i`ve just found out that little prob,with hole in panel,ive just been down cul-de-sac and when i`ve got back and taken panel off i`ve noticed the corner of the float bowl is rubbing the inside of the panel.what options do i have

1.cut hole to more of an oval shape.2. put a shorter manifold on, could i do that after its been set up.

sounds like you may need to use a shorter manifold ,
i seem to remember that yours was maybe a solid mount one that had been shortened and modified by someone....but obviously not short enough... :D

we will still be able to dyno it though ,and you can change /modify it after...

thanks for that sean i was worried i`d have to sort it out first and that would have been another week .

The flanged rubber mounts are good for making a short inlet. Jimmers sells them, but you can try and pick one up from a bike breakers. The problem is that rubbers bought from a breakers don't always suit your chosen carb (the ridge might not be in the best place), but Jimmers buys them from a place (I can't remember the name, b ut someone will) where they do match the carb).

You have to machine the manifold to weld-on an ali flange, but these flanged rubbers always seem to save valuable millimetres. I've made two, one for my 190, and another for my 240 (still in bits)

Just to clarify, Jimmers ones are a straight fit and designed for TS1 ;-)

Quite right Sousurfer, but he will sell you a rubber if you want to make your own manifold. The point i wanted to make was that the flanged rubbers to save space and are less prone to failure/leakage.

thanks soulsurfer/Knowledge,but i`ve never seen a flanged rubber mount ,even the ones that jimmers sells you couldn`t post a picky for me please. I`ve asked a gent opposite to my works who restores old motorcycles he put a 110rod into my crank webs,he said he would turn it down for me no probs.he`s under performance pushrods (mike pemberton) a very nice gent
