give or take a bit for differances between dynoes, it looks good so far? torque is high and the 5k torque bhp crossover is where you want it.

bloody impressive from a piston ported motor, i know some people have said that mbd dont publish their dyno results.....well i have an in box full of them and asked mark if he minded me posting them on forums to get feedback and he was quite happy for this to happen.

Very good. Under the impression from what I've read, however, that it's a 260 (255?) reed valve motor with a quite expensive one off pipe, long stroke crank etc. Would cost the average punter an awful lot of cash for that motor and I'm sure you could get similar results from a well sorted TS1 for a lot less?

The engine is out up to mark on the 21st January, suppose i should ask how much before we start
The engine is a complete apart job and change everything, last apart in 1996 except for a cylinder change in 2007
TS1 and PX stay in the garage (future barn finds) out on the GTS 300 when I go out on a scooter.
I know I’ll get there and back

yes its an alpha crank at 64 mm on a rt kit. i think darrel is using a re worked b race pipe that gives a differant tail pipe exit possition but mark had been trying his race tour pipes too so im not sure which this one is. i have a couple of b race pipes and they are good but no dearer than any other quality pipes.

6LDA 28B is not looking for the same power just a high capacity lambretta motor, not a ts1/rb/monza type set up. im not trying to put words in his mouth but I think the balance between a lambretta feel and good power is what he is chasing.

6LDA 28B will be using a clubman too and is less interested in budget but is chasing quality.

I dont think he is alone, i have a 240 ts1 but I would love a "standard" lambretta engine with clubman with high power and torque with good mpg.

Would that be an AF clubman then ;)

Ah the Holy Grail. Yes, I'm sure a lot of people (me included) would want that. I've gone back to an old school set-up (iron 225, 30 del orto, 42 clubman). Seems to pull well tho still running in. After years of having an expansion I'm loving the sound of a clubman on my scoot 8-)

no its a ancilotti clubman....re welded. they work well once you come to terms with the fact that the need welding up.

i have ticked all the boxes with my ts1 but still im drawn to the "standard" lambretta. the attraction is the classic element of them so going too far away from what they are ruins them for me.

you can tune till the cows come home but you only get the bhp of a restricted licence motorbike anyway, in france this year one of our lot was riding a very old ex dispatch cb500 as the vespa he had planned to be riding had issues. A f@@ked cb500 put into context "fast" as there was not a scooter that could get near him. He was riding ahead and taking pictures then catching up again passing us at 100mph while videoing on his phone and doing it again.

people with stories of "doing an r1 on me rb250"........it never happened :smug:

so faced with this reality I think the holy grail is a path worth pursuing so I'm keen to see how the clubman does on a rt255.

Here you go..... RT255 with Tino Clubman versus an RT230 with same pipe..... this is BEFORE the fitment of the reed valve, and extra tuning work:

thats looking good to me, give or take a bit for dyno differances.....this is exactly whats needed. why fanny about with small cc revvy engines when you can have a "lambretta" with plenty on tap to go places 8-)

So do MB weld them up/alter before they sell them? Wandering why they're selling them £40 more than anyone else? Or is it a different pipe?

Well its been a while since I've been on so just for you Sean I'll bob a post in!! ;) :D

Cezeta why is that any better than any MB touring TS1. For example below is one posted by vespanic on this very forum, from the same engine builder, presumably dynoed on the same dyno. If you check the HP and Torque figures every 1000rpm there the same upto 5500rpm when the little old TS takes over.

RT255 engine cost quite a lot I would think, feckin s**t loads hey, more than a standard stroke TS??

So why is the graph for the RT exactly whats needed in your opinion?? Is this the four stroke feel you were after......

Please Note:I'm not trying to compare the two engines as they are different I know.........

wey hey.....adspeeds not on strike anymore.

its simple.

if you want a piston ported scooter with a clubman then a piston ported engine with a clubman is so much better that a ts1 with an expansion. not everyone is looking for the same thing, the last few posts were about "standard" scooters with decent power as apposed reed valve, expansions and open carbs.

they are all there to buy but for a classic scooter with a clubman then the rt is the one i like, im sure something similar could be created elsewhere but for now all the boxes are ticked by the tuner that we have never been let down by in 20 years.

SIMPLES ??
