It might not be at all relevant but the Readspeed stator is the same and I have seen one absolutely fried.
I seem to think MBD had some problems developing a new electronic kit maybe this was the one we're on about here. I remember in Jet Set a few years ago it caused Mark to breakdown but atleast he didn't sell them then but went back to the drawing board.
I've tried the Variatronic, the Agusto but the next engine I build I'll be going back to a standard SIL one.

LOL. what goes around comes around springs to mindIan Hepworth wrote:Would this be the same one Mark Broadhurst helped design over 5 years ago and Electrex went and copied his development ideas and suggestions and every other dealer got them first.................... funny how the people in the know, know a little bit more about history before anyone else does, like 5 years earlier.
Talk about being ripped off!
This is why Mark is working on two new systems AC/DC and with fixed curve and fully adjustable curves as well.

Who supplies the single phase version?carlos fandango wrote:The single phase version has four coils.Lamaddict wrote:Too many coils to me and that could increase the chance of a problem IMO.

To me it looks like a three phase system, with electronic ignition using a veriable reluctance pick up triggering a thyrister assisted electronic ignition, simmilar to what jap bikes use
35watt+ for ignition,
about 200 wats for lighting etc.,
a bit like my bike, seems the way to go

Jerome (readspeed) sells them (or did).soulsurfer wrote:Who supplies the single phase version?carlos fandango wrote:The single phase version has four coils.Lamaddict wrote:Too many coils to me and that could increase the chance of a problem IMO.
I had one, but after my RB went bang and i stripped my engine, i noticed the coating on the coils looked discoloured / burnt

When i was young my Mom said "if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing at all " ..................... and people wonder why I'm quiet around them !
