Renewing the rear hub oilseal............
I warm the seal then try to tap it in evenly using a drift that rests on the flat part of the seal.
Trouble is, it never seems to sit properly when fitted, looks like the oil seal lip has turned out on itself a little, although the seal lip is on the inner face of the bearing. I just know this seal is gonna leak......................

There must be a better way.

Using Rolf seals by on an SIL 200 engine bythe way.

get a stiff piece of plastic long enough to bend into a cylinder the same size as the inner bearing race, put it through the oil seal, leberally cover in oil, then place the plastic cylinder over the inner race and push the seal into place then withdraw plastic, job done :D

Worst job must be having to talk to the mechanic when you drop your scooter off for some workshop time :D :D
or even having to take it there, what's wrong with home pick up ;)
TS1 and PX stay in the garage (future barn finds) out on the GTS 300 when I go out on a scooter.
I know I’ll get there and back

Got pick up around here cos the workshop is about 15 miles away, but the cost is always factored in.

It started out as a rear brake adjustment cos MOT tomorrow, found out no more adjustment. Change brake shoes, take hub off and very slight seepage of oil onto brake shoes. Dig out old oil seal (Indian but 4000 miles on it). New Rolf seal very tight, warmed in hot water, still won't go on eventually did but doesn't look quite right. Put new shoes on, slacken cable at pedal for adjusting, hub very tight on new shoes.......................feck, it just goes on..............
