RAPIDO 225: which Wiseco piston and conrod?
the ts 250 has a 18mm pin,you can either machine up some bushes,or ideally use the ape rod which has the 18mm little end,also is 110mm long and i think jims said in a previous post there is a 3mm difference in deck height on the pistons so should go straight in,not sure how it will affect the port timings.ape rod at chiselspeed £50 plus you will need a 40mm long lambretta big end pin.cheers all.
Not sure if it's 3mm or 5mm deck height difference it's been over 8 years since I did one of these conversions

just out of curiiosity and not questioning rights and wrongs but why do people use a jap or wiseco piston as apposed a race tour piston?
are there benafits, cost wise seems to be only a chinese takeaway and a few tinnies in it but at least you know what you are getting i.e. round peg round hole.
i confess to being lazy but I would have thought that a yam rod and a racetour piston was easy and good value in the plug and play sence.
or are there specific advantages of jap conversions?

For me, one of the reasons I would use a Jap piston would be if its originally made for an air cooled barrel (like the Suzuki TS 250 piston) then the taper and fit of the piston should perform OK in an air cooled Lambretta cylinder... plus the pistons are normally nearer to £50 or even less than, rather than £100...cezeta wrote:just out of curiiosity and not questioning rights and wrongs but why do people use a jap or wiseco piston as apposed a race tour piston?

Yes, sometimes theres a bagain to be had on US ePay.
Is there any significant weight advantage with a TS250 piston over say an Asso to aid balance on a 58 stroke crank. I can imagine there is but I don't know.
Also if it's only the rings that have issue LTH sell some high quality Jap rings so you can widen the exhaust port an extra few mm.

I've just got a TS250 piston, pin and circlips off ebay for £47.00ish genuine suzuki.. Why would I buy a 'Race Tour' for £135?
Dont get me wrong, if people buy Marks stuff (which I hear is very good) all well and good, but I cant afford it myself...same with the 'super crank'.. Indian webs with an up rated rod will do me.. or even a trued and welded AF Race crank
