It depends how its Wired and where the Brown abd Green come from really , The Green is usually an Ignition / Kill feed and Brown is Lights /Power feed unusual they are both together unless somewone has wired different ?
As my Dad used to say "Each to their own lad"
Green is usually reserved for the ignition. Therefore should never come in contact with any other circuit.
It would seem whoever wired this machine has not followed that convention.
Is it 6V original/6V electronic/12V electronic conversion?

If it won't start without the brown and green connected together, I would suspect you have low, or no power coming from the stator ignition coil. Check the condition and connections on this, especially the earth one.

yes everything is working now, but it wont start unless green and brown are connected, brown is for the horn, red, brake light, violet for the lights, and green for the coil. So does it seem there is a problem with the starter winding in the stator? thanks for the replies guys.
