nice tool Minority.......... I like home made tools but it wouldn't fit in the case with the layshaft fitted unfortunately.

It does, just (like most things in the lambretta gearbox/clutch/kickstart area, they just fit). I used it to change the detent spring between the two ball bearings. I foolishly changed to an MB up-rated spring at one stage which made the changing gears painful (literally), so I wanted to change the spring back to standard. I made this tool to achieve this without stripping the back hub and layshaft out of the casing after spending hours and much swearing trying to do it with just my hands (no headbutting involved )

This nearly drove me nuts on my last motor. I had a tight spot on the box in third and fourth which wasn't that apparent till the box was assembled. I had it in and out a dozen times before I eliminated it by bending the yoke, but I must have pushed it past 4th and popped the balls out every other time...

Trevor Emerton used to sell a very simple tool for that job. Not sure if he's on here.
