Hi all, im having problems selecting the second gear. when im in 1st and i try to shift into second either i hit a false neutral or it jumps straight into third. only if i keep pushing the gear change down somewhere between second and third it will engage but only for a second before it starts dragging and rattling and eventually shift back into the false neautral. i tryed all the possible cable adjustments but with no results. if i shift the gears manually from the selector arm or i walk the scooter with the engine off eevrythng seems to be ok. any ideas??
any help appreciated.
won't shift into second
thanx for answering, i rebuilt it myself and im sure they are in the correct way around. i could spin the gearbox freely by hand, is this a typical sympthom of fitting gears wrong way round ? all other thee gears engage well...

when in second gear the selector arm should be paralell with the stood on the casing or in a straight line and is the selector on top the right way round and are the cables the wright way round from headset to the selector

the picture is unclear

The arm is not aligning perfectly with the crankcase stud. Could this be the reason? Should I open the engine.

if the gear arm is not aligned correctly then it would only affect the selection of 1st or 4th gear , if you can post up a photo of the gear swivel / arm in 2nd or neutral .
gearbox wise, 4th goes in with the boss pointing towards you or side case then other gears with the raised boss pointing towards the rear hub.
ive just noticed you say its dragging and rattling more than likely you have either built gearbox wrong or the selector is mis-matching with the gearbox.
