Wide Rear Tyre Conversions... R they any Good?

Mines the same - & as you say, the engine offset would need to be nearer to 15mm to properly centre the tyre with the frame.
Not the most practical of conversions either - in that you basically have to drop the engine out of the frame in order to remove the rear wheel ...but I still think they look the bollox though....

On mine all I have to do is remove exhaust and undo rear shock, gave enough clearance to remove 130-70 and 120/90

I was also looking at an lml auto the other day and I'm sure the panels look wider than Vespa, going to have to borrow one and see if they are, if so I could then shift the engine over another 5mm

i am interested in doing this conversion what stops the wheel from
being removed with engine in the frame also any issue with rubbing on the clutch cover

The width of the tyre takes up most of the space in the wheel well - so you no longer have the clearence to remove the wheel from the hub with the motor in place.
I used the scooter & service conversion on mine which uses a cnc'd billet spacer between the wide halfs of a px & cosa rim with a 130/70 tyre - and it comes with longer replacement studs for the hub & a spacer for the engine mount included in the kit.
I replaced the existing engine mounts with the Jockey's wide tyre mounts with built in spacer & also fitted a cosa front rim with 100/90 tyre which compensates for the offset of the rear wheel... no issues with tyre rubbing on clutch cover.

Is there any mod needed to the rear brake lever, on their site it mentions something about the rear brake but not very clear.

No - you just need to change your rear hub studs for the longer ones supplied with the kit, cut 10mm off the rhs pivot mount & fit the supplied spacer to other side.

Sounds easy enough, are you running a 130/70 - 10 tyre, and hows about the front, standard 3.50 or wider?

130/70-10 on the rear - and on the front i'm using a cosa rim with 100/80-10...

Also - check if your exhaust will fit with wide tyre... a lot of the off the shelf left hand side expansion systems wont.

ok thanks for the info, I'm going to change my old Taffspeed and looking at a German Pipe Design exhaust so no worries there, looks like a little visit to SIP website for so money spending!
