I run a RM 48mm clubman on one of my Avanti's with no issues. Comfortably pulls from 30mph in 4th and tops out over 70mph (gps).
Running a 30mm phbh and timing has a MTech fitted. Gearing is a GP200 box with 46/20 front and rear giving 4.6 final drive.

I had a Ron Moss Clubman on mine when I first built it. No problems what-so-ever. Ran gearing as recommended with a 4.6:1 final drive and pulled well. I built a second Avanti and used the same exhaust and again was impressed how well it pulled through the gears with no issues at the top end.
I would say the build quality on the pipes is variable and it's pot luck whether one performs or not. I've had 6 overall, some worked some didn't.... But if this is one element of chance I can remove by fitting an MB pipe I will.

can you tell me what type of "quiet expansion pipe" you use on your avanti as im running a
franspeed supertourer with the standard end can and im looking for something a little quieter if possible
thanks

Funnily enough, I run a Franspeed Supertourer too so that doesn't really help you much. The only thing that I would say is that any bike running rich will fairly quickly carbon up the packing of an absorption muffler and then cause volume to rise considerably. Your only options are to regularly repack the muffler, replace the muffler, etc.

my Avanti jetting is deliberately rich as im still running it in but should finish it off this week
so what your saying about increased noise due to carbon build up rings true in my case
another option is the fatter end can but ill talk to andy francis and see what he thinks

Hi All,
felt compelled to come on here and praise the Avanti kit once again......last Saturday I had to rush back home from the Isle of Wight as a relative was taken gravely ill. In the pouring rain for the full three and a quarter hours journey I covered 170 miles on the Avanti with just fuel stops only and it never let me down once or faulter at all. Ron Moss I thank you for such a brilliant piece of kit, the best out there by far......well pleased

I feel exactly the same about mine.
In the right company I now rarely drop below 70 on mtorways 50+ miles at a time. tops out at 79.6 GPS goes uphill as fast as it does down.
I run a 30 mm delly static timing 17 degrees and af road on li 150 @ 4.6.

I've got mine up and running again.
I had the jetting at 123 main, 55 pilot x7 needle and av266 atomiser running a 30mm phbh and franspeed race, timing 21 degrees at tick over retarding to 16 deg. It didn't run well at all, I've dropped the atomiser to a 264 and it runs really well now.
Has anyone else had to drop the atomiser down?

Be wary of this change as the AV264 and X7 can run lean/weak. I've run the AV264 with X13 needle (richer than the X7) on other motors with filters but I'd keep an eye on plug colour and an ear open for pinking. You may be fine but just test it and see how it responds, rather than just give it hell and find that it goes POP!
