Ed, as Martin has said, yes, they are in Crosby. They can be a funny lot but if you get any attitude, just ask to see the boss. He was a gent :)

Martin, I've just found my notes about this conrod which I wrote down after speaking with Ian Frankland. Yes, it was the KE175D. The benefit of this rod over the Yamaha was that it fitted into Indian webs at 15mm wide with no machining - the overall width was 40.5mm. The downside, in comparison to the Yamaha rod, is that it's not quite as sturdy. I took the view that a KE175 could probably produce the power of a TS1 :?: so it was good to go. Over 4 years and many thousands of miles later, it still appears fine.

I've not made a massive amount of progress recently, however I did try and clean up the gear cluster I posted pictures of earlier. Having done this I don't think its a good idea to use it :(

I'm wondering if I can get away with a SIl gear cluster (10-12-16-18 Teeth) rather than finding another original item

I guess this boils down to two questions

1. will it fit and work with my Italian gear box (50-42--39-36)
2. What effect will that have on performance?

As already said , get your original cluster repaired. It will be far better.

Talking of removing the gear cluster track. Has anyone any experience of using one of these?

Not that particular one but have one similar that I've used a few times. you need to get the casing hot enough that it will boil spit then slap enough grease in to fill the hole offer up the tool and give it a sharp rap with the hammer, it should start to push up. If not reheat and try again.

Sometimes if you get it hot enough fast enough they just fall out if you turn the casing over nad give it a knock on the bench.
