Can I assume that if the brake light doesn't work but the light does then the problem is with the brake switch?

You can assume that .............. But why not touch the rear light power onto the brakle light connection and rule out the LED board?

Thanks, yes I did this and it lit up which made me think it was the switch but wanted a second opinion... :D ....not much to go wrong in the switch I guess, but it does look ok... :?

Now with the rear light connected normally, remove the two wires from the brake switch and touch them together (with engine running) If the brake light comes on. It's the switch. Ta-da

check the wires to the board.. i've had a couple of these rattle themselves to bits, the solder is a bit thin so had to carefully redo
