Mine does this too due to flooding (changed needle but still does it for some reason). As you pull up, turn the fuel tap off. Let it run for a little to lower the level in the float bowl and turn it off.
If it starts easily again then it's fuel related and you can take it from there.

Well it's not the air screw then :) It is something making it too rich though. How about the air hole in the top of the pilot jet, all clean? Is it the correct size jet?
Like Grinch said, could be the float needle. If you leave the fuel on, does it start cold without choke?

Hi again.
Ive had the carb apart a few times now for a clean but still has no effect. I do need the choke on to start from cold and ive tried turning the tap off before coming to a stop. Think I might try a new carb on it. Cheers fellas.

How's your top end? Plenty compression? May need a rebore or new rings.

Had the same problem with my P2,went through everything as you are doing,it finally turned out to be the little black box[pick up] on the stator plate that was faulty, changed that and every thing was fine,

Yes, Plenty of life in the top end. I have a rewired stator with a new pick up on it so I think I will try that so cheers for that. Fingers crossed it does the trick.
