ok so i just sandblasted my legshields using crushed glass and now i have a metallic looking finish, caused probably by too high a pressure. can i get away with priming over this or do i need to sand it all off.

No, that´s the rule with crushed glass, you´ll get a very smooth surface compared to the "real" sandblasting.

You get residue embedded in the surface with grit blasting too, it will sand off very easily either by hand or with a flap wheel. Something like 80 grit should do it.
