Your best bet is downloading Tony Cassidy's gearbox visualiser, it's brilliant, it lets you compared different set-ups.

Me, being a novice it would still be a guess(lots of numbers to look at on that) but a professional opinion would be great!! ;)

OK, here's what I do.

Use the "Lambretta Overall Gearbox Visualiser" from Beedspeed website.
http://beedspeed.com/html-pages/Lambret ... oChart.htm

That gives you final drive ratio's for any given gearbox and sprocket combination

Then I also use a chart off CAM LAM website that gives all sprocket combinations, and correct chain length to go with it.
http://www.lambretta.co.uk/downloads/gearbox.html

Also remember if you get a pull down chain tensioner gives a bit more flexibility on chain length
Finally the larger the front sprocket the less wear on your clutch

ok without all the charts etc.

My TS1 (bit tuned) I had at final drive 4.81 (pacemaker and 47-18 sprockets)

Good all round drive
