Not my best move, it was done for me as i'm bone idle and haven't a clue

I've since been told nothing wrong with the stators it was all wired up wrong

The 4 lighting coils are wound on plastic 'bobbins' which slip over the fingers in the stator core. They are connected together in series and a yellow wire attached to either end. There should be NO electrical contact between the lighting coils and the stator core, if there is it can only mean that there is contact between the coils or the yellow wires and the stator plate core or backing plate or maybe as the yellows pass through the cable gland?KCB wrote:I have exactly the same symptoms on a BGM stator.
The yellow wires exiting it all have continuity to earth.
However, with the stator plate removed there is no continuity but the stator is earthed when on the scooter as it is metal touching the earthed engine.
Therefore how can the yellows Supposedly not be earthed as well?
How are the yellow wires supposed to be isolated from Earth on the stator?
Can't get my battery to charge as only getting approx 5v out of the Red wire, everything else seems to be lighting from the battery.
Glad you're on the right track, the tape won't doo any harm, a couple of turns should be enough. However, that is extremely shoddy work from BGM, if the coils short to earth even on an AC setup, it will have the same effect as only part of the coil will be working (up to the point of the short).KCB wrote:Quick update.
That seems to have solved the problem.
Cheers Coaster for your help
