I've had many of the same ?(rally and p2's) over the years , and honestly can't say ones been (a lot faster than the other), but they were never going to break land speed records!!

P2"s could vary wildly even when new. a club member bought a MK1 from Angelos scooter station (now Motech) and Angelo started a few up, and listened to them in turn. "this one is the best". and it was , it flew! same years later, 2 clubmates bought identical green P2"s when the disc came out , one would go "off the clock" regularly, the other was a snail. I love them though, best scooter ever made (puts tin hat on)

Had exactly the same , when I bought my first and only new scooter in 99, lad from penrith bought one too, both same colour , etc identical, until it came to out on the road, I would regularly pass him with ease en route to rallys!

they are tough old motors like. I serviced an 8 year old one with 35k miles on it that hadn't had any gear box oil in from new. the lad said "I put oil in every week, in the filler under the seat"! he didn't know it had gear oil as well. the gearbox had about a tablespoon of oil in it! me and redheed (the mrs) would load our P2 up with amazing amounts of luggage, front and back racks, kitbag on the floor, the works, and thrash the knackers of it up and down the country 2"s up, on cheapo 2 stroke and S83 tyres, and it never failed to get us there or home again. only once it played up, on the top of Bowes incline on the A66 coming home from a rally in the lakes, and the clutch went. after nearly throwing in the towel, one last resort kick and it burst into life! we rode at 40mph the rest of the way, coasting up to traffic lights till they changed and trying not to do any hard pull aways or revving, with big Ralph from whitley bay chaperoning us to make sure we didn't get stuck anywhere. it finally chucked its guts outside our house! and it was our lasses birthday ! fandabydozy !
