I had my scoot cut out on me last weekend in rain which I got started eventually ( thought it was a dodgy kill switch) then today after giving it a good wash - it refused to start.

I noticed the grommet sealing the wires from the stator had popped out so I reckon I have got water in there causing the problems.

Now I know how the grommet and plate works but I wondered if there's any tricks of the trade to aid waterproofing possibly some silicon?

If its an electronic... the old Italian stators were originally covered in laquer to prevent water fouling the electrics on the stator.. Its somthing Ive done when doing a rebuild.... Northwest paints used to do an acrylic air drying laquer which was very good at sealing the electrics... I bought a litre and dipped the stator in... this in addition to a good grommet... ;)

Thanks for the replies chaps, it refused to start this morning!
Typically the best day of the year and I'm grounded!

Anyway made a few checks and found the ignition coil on the stator to be open circuit, I've changed the ignition coil now, going to finish off tonight.

A good chance to fit the agusto now :D
