yes to the 166,sip2port matching, never thought about carb and read vale , want it to look standard at the mo,LI150 wrote:My preference would be malossi 166, p2 carb and jl rh exhaust or a revolver.

malossi 166 matched to casings carb and carb box shaped and matched to crankcase crank tuned and polished 24/24 carb polini induction kit + drilled +fast flow tap, flywheel lightend, sip road exhaust.

What bits have you got already, and don't need to come out of your budget?

The £600 budget sounds fine but are you doing the work ? A tuned crank (or altered standard) should be in the list as well. 70mph may be a top end speed but i'd be dubious about cruising much above 60mph (my mates malossi sits nice at 55mph but struggles to cruise at any more than that) .
Regards clutch and gearing.....i'ld leave as is and only look to change if you've got a problem (up-rated clutch spring for £10 may worth a punt).

Appreciate that it may not be what you were wanting to do.
Just a thought but if you are looking to spend around 600 would it not be easier to simply source a decent standard P2 engine.
You could keep your 150 engine in case you wanted to put it back. Or if you wanted to sell it, you'd probably get enough for a decent exhaust and a new carb.

I have to agree with Herman ,after my experiences with the 166 i would stay well away ,if you insist on doing your engine what about a parmakit ? You won't go far wrong with either of the pipes you are thinking about but the sip will give a little more low down power but the revolver is also good and sounds nice

DR180 kit, with a few hours' worth of dremmeling to make the ports a reasonable size - and transfer timing adjusted to run with
A 60 mil crank. Cheap as for Vespas.
24 mil carb (easy to find)
SIP road pipe (cheap - and quiet is the new loud)
P200 gearing and clutch with a short 4th.
If you spend a few hours matching everything up, rather than bashing it in with a hammer, it should run pretty well. It wont set the world alight, but it's not going to suck a tank of gas inside 80km either. And it's not going to be revving at 8000 all the time, so it should last a while too.
