ok sorry if this is a stupid question and I have an inkling that I already know the answer, but having put new piston in, and put motor back together with different timing and squish,it now feels flat and lethargic

pull away is boggy, and the "zing" seems to have "zonged" LOL

I guess that its back to the dyno guy for it to be looked at but would the following changes be likely to have this effect?

old timing was closer to 18 degrees than 17,but barely. new timing is 15 degrees at revs.

old squish was 1.25 before I retorqued the head, didn't check afterwards :( no idea if it would have changed much

new squish is 1.4

changes made after camlam told me that the previous settings as supplied by them were wrong LOL.

I'd run it in first before considering a Dyno session...............

ok no probs, done about 80 miles on it so far

new piston and rings, but I assume I just follow the same break in as a complete topend?

probably a lot less with just a new piston and rings

I would imagine that it would feel a tad "flater" with the timing retarded and the squish increased, but would recommend that you do give it a period of "running in" before Dynoing- I've always found short sharp cycles work best on a 2 stroke. Short journeys from cold, with bursts of quite normal acceleration, then back home after 2 or 3 miles max and allow to cool. Then repeat, again and again.
