Dangerous? Its bad enough wearing a helmet which blocks out noise.dapper wrote:Ear plugsNo seriously, I always ride with them in with a Clubman fitted to my scoot. You can hear your engine through your body (vibrations) cuts out wind noise etc. so you can hear any out of the ordinary noises.

Scootering since 1968.
As Special X says, it depends on the particular engine, I have a couple of standard spec 200`s with AF Clubmans and they are quite reasonable, but I have recently carried out some work on a mates 200,with one of those ally/iron liner top ends, with an AF Clubman, while I had the cylinder off I thought the exhaust port looked biggish, and sure enough when the scoot was running you could hardly hear yourself speak, even when it was ticking over.
Keep on keepin on

Ear plugs cut out the wind noise more than anything else. If you're doing over 40mph, the wind noise does permanent damage to hearing.dapper wrote:Ear plugsNo seriously, I always ride with them in with a Clubman fitted to my scoot. Anyone riding without ear plugs in these days must be retarded.
