I really hope it's robust as it's the upgrade that gives everything and probably needs riding to fully appreciate.

The benefit from significantly increased overlap can't be underestimated.

It may be that some of the bigger capacity 30BHP+ motors can cope with a 4-speed box but for a standard or modestly tuned motor, this would have a real benefit.

This shows the comparison between the standard cyclone and an SX200 box - I know which one I'd rather ride.............

new visualiser looks great tony!

the 5 speed once out of 2nd never drops below 5.5 k so with a franspeed race for example your always pulling on pipe and out of the dead zone pre pipe
for me a nice touch to the visualizer would be as well as redline shaded in red could be power band width shaded so for example a power graph that shows 24bhp but has a curved top showing positive of 20+ bhp between 6 and 8k could show that in green
?amber for get ready / green for go, band width / red for stop, redline

great work again Tony,was that already in there or have you done that tonight?

if u draw the power curve with the usual dip in it that causes the problems with 2 strokes going double rich before coming up onto pipe then thats the main area to gear out of so a heading named dip or similar be good
i feel the tailing off and bang should be a combined redline/no go area as once the powers falling you might as well select another gear and catch the rise again
dip / rise / peak area / fall is just 4 sections/colours and keeps it simple kind of describes the graph shape but your description describes the riding experience well
id be happy for you to use any of my dyno graphs for std kits within a sample graph area for anyone working out gearing without a dyno graph let me know if u want any images sending

5 speed looks very promising
Got a load of different versions that are trying to present the data in different ways so it was a quick change on one of them - the challenge is keeping it simple, clean and intuitive.

The full version will allow you to program in and store multiple dyno runs and then display them along with a calculated notional top speed to work from and highlighting where you've got insufficient power to support a ratio in each gear as wind resistance increases. I want to get to the point where theres a version that takes all the RPM data directly from the dyno data without the user having to guess the various thresholds.

I'll take you up on the dyno graphs as I was planning to have a range of pre-programmed dyno profiles reflecting standard dealer/cylinder kits that could be selected from. :D

That looks great Tony.
At one time a cascade graph similar to the one in Scootering, was a normal part of most serious road tests. Would it be worth having a function to produce a similar result? Is this just a case of getting your spreadsheet to turn cell values to a graph?
I was thinking people would see the effect of gearing choice plotted over a range of values, then try to match that to their power curve.
I know the spreadsheet format is doing the same but for some, it can be hard to hold all the numbers at once. A graphical representation would show folks where the peaks and troughs are.
