rear hub seal

can i replace the hub seal without stripping the engine just noticed a small leak ,thought i might be able to slide a new one down over the shaft after i take the metal plate off and the thin metal plate under that one

Yes, no problem, a bit trickier getting it in nice and square because the layshaft is in the way but has been done successfully more than once. All the best.
