Only 18 miles on mine so far but it feels great 8-) The build was very easy, the most time consuming issue was tidying up the AF inlet manifold, opening it out to match the Avanti inlet was to be expected but the inlet path was positively 'D' shaped where the nearest stup passed through. I spent about an hour with a rasp, dremel and electric drill before I was happy with it. Mind you, it was only £19, half the price of the MB one but onlya fraction of the quality.....that'll teach me  I was using a 58mm crank with a 110mm rod and the best I could get the squish to was 1.42mmwith no gaskets used. Not as close as I would have liked and would have maybe changed the packer to a thinner (2mm) one and played with the gaskets if family issues hadn't intervened  . I'm using a JL3 expansion and managed to get it to fit after putting a few washers behind the main bracket on the crank case and bending the bracket on the expansion box out a little. No grinding of the barrel fins necessary at all. It did need a slight 'ding' with a hammer though to clear the cowling around the cylinder head. Jetted it in accordance with Ron's recommendations i.e.
30 PHBH
40 slide
X7 2nd clip down
AV266
125 main
55 pilot

Timing is 22 degrees with a August 6000 fitted. Started after a few prods of the kickstart despite the fact that the clutch was slipping and the engine was hardly turning over and soon settled into a regular tickover. After adjusting the clutch out (I had rebuilt it as it HAD been binding  ) I took it for a shake down bimble through Thetford forest sticking to the 45 mph recommended....very frustrating as it does as others have commented, pull like a train and can't wait to get back on it and put in some more miles 8-)

As for the spitback issue, mine seems to have very little, certainly less that my Mk1 Muggy 186, I was running withoiut the pannels fitted though but with the muggy there was a visible 'cloud' of atomised fuel, not so on the Avanti as far as I could tell.

Inlet Manifolds

Over a year ago I was advise to make my own inlet manifold, I am beginning to wish I had.
The Avanti inlet port is matched to a STANDARD inlet gasket, as yet I have not found one that actually fits/ matches without the need of a dremmel. Unless you know better?
How hard is it to make one to match a standard gasket?

I had to chuckle when I saw this. My first manifold on the Avanti needed filling (nothing wrong with the barrel, it was the manifold). Tried a second which needed a little trimming. I think the most asked question for anything Lambretta is, "why doesn't the part fit first time?". You can't even get two of the same gasket to match.

I read somewhere that any clubby will fit the TT3. I can confirm a 48mm AF clubby won't! The wait for a decent clubman continues :barfy: :barfy: :barfy:

^... providing the AF 48 fits a standard kit then it should fit the Avanti too. I run an RS clubman on mine, which was previously fitted to iron barrel, Mugello and Rapido. Indeed, Ron's own Avanti clubman fits other kits too.

What element of the pipe does not fit? Does it hit something or is the alignment to the u-bend out? Have you tried the same pipe on another motor/kit?

The body of the clubman hits against the headcowl and if I try and fit it I'm gonna crack the head cowl..this was borrowed of a club mate so I'm assuming it's as is...seems a long way short or my head cowl is out of shape.

When you sat the the body hits the head cowl what part of the silencer, the cone or is it the seam on the inside?

Might get the new prototypes in this next week I hope.

That is the problem, different makes of silencer have difference width of seam on the inside, had the same problem.
Some had to be taken right off and re-welded.

Where are they being made? all in good time

Seems to have gone a bit quiet on the TT3 front since the hiccup with the cylinder Sticky was testing in the Scootering article.

IMHO a) This is the only fault I've heard about so far, and b) The way in which it was handled by Ron must be a huge positive!

I was expecting a flood of rave reviews from at least some owners of the 100+ kits that must be run in by now.....

Cue tumbleweed...... :)
