How to get the GP type kickstart working right.
GP one on the right with the ramp as part of the end plate, these never seem to work right and it must put some pressure on the end plate each time the engine is kicked over
Image
cut off the ramp
Image
and shape it up
Image
Inside the GP crankcase side
Image
this needs drilling and tapping to M6 use the Li ramp as a guide
Image
take a little off the shaft to clear the clutch top plate
Image
this new one was also deeper
Image
you can see here the part to grind away
Image
and after grinding
Image
it now fits and clears the bolts
Image
you can now use the ramp to set the kickstart so it kicks at the top and not half way down
Image
with the standard washer it had to much play in and out
Image
so a over size one is fitted
Image

and there you go a kickstart that works hope that is of some help.

Thanks for that. Already done it on my GP but the pics and description are first class.
By the way are Indian and Italian end plates slightly different in thickness because I used an Italian GP end plate to cut and had to re-shim the gearbox quite radically on my Indian GP. :?: :?: :?:

I dont know if they are thicker, but I believe they are supplied as a machined matching pair, End plate and case....
