reed sheet is available to cut your own petals in various thicknesses,i have a few to go at
although the rb petals suffer from another problem to cause failure in that they touchdown onto the casting which can be remedied with porting
also a misfire from a faulty ignition or even a fouled plug can cause reed failure.

(a misfire from a faulty ignition or even a fouled plug can cause reed failure)

Oh yes it can!

On way to Brid had a massive backfire when the plug cap popped off then on again. Apparently flames out of the end can!

Result broken reed petal and dead RB22.

Fortunately I was only 3 miles or so from AF and after a slow tow from Eston Rifle 81 and the Rebel, Ben sorted it out for me and I was back on the road again.

Top job young Mr Rayspeed!

there are various suppliers who could provide you with reed sheet
i do have some if you need some,im in doncaster
a thicker reed on the outer petal will help reduce failures
reed thickness can be calculated to suit engine specification but as a general rule thinner petals for response/power thicker petals give good reliability and still good power although 0.25mm is thin for a 50cc at 14000rpm and 0.4mm could be described as thin on a 250 at 9000rpm
