If you like constantly working back and forth between 3rd and 4th gear , yes, it will be fine with a 21 tooth and a PM. Being less than 10 stone and riding only with the wind behind you will also help.sean brady scooters wrote:I bet you find its been fitted with a 22 tooth clutch sprocket ,which would work fine if it was ported tuned and reedvalved...
21 tooth should be ok though with that pipe .

get rid of the pm got a scorpian om my reedvalved 172 and with the pm was pulling 15.5 hp put scorpian on and just over 18 thats with a 20 tooth clutch as had a 21 on with the pm and it was rather poo might retry it now as think 4th would pull it well now
my T5 Polini 152, machined head, 21 clutch, 26mm carb, augusto 7000 had a sterling pipe and did the same, fading out at top but on long runs it'd eventually wake up and hit 70 usually just before a roundabout or a junction!. Today I put a scorpion on and will do a long journey later in the week so I'll test it then, but around town today it really turns it into a loud revvy little bitch!
DOH!, I meant Simonini not Scorpion
It's been a while and i'd almost forgotten but, i changed the rings and ran it for a while before giving it some proper stick, managed to hit 68 on the gps which i suppose isn't too bad, but that was revving the nuts off it.

With the setup you have you should be getting well over 70MPH.
something is wrong with the set up. Clutch would be my first stop.
