smoking end can

hi had to put a temp end can on my scoot , its of a two stroke bike not lot diff to lammy ones, anyhow after a coulpe miles it has smoke pouring out of it and will continue for half hour after bike is turned off, asked a long time bike geezer and he said the wadding has gone rock soild and only way of cureing this is spliting the can to take it out , any thoughts on this ? cheers

Sound like the padding in the can has a ton of oil in it and it is burning off. Drill out those rivets, replace the padding. Or you could try riding the hell out of it on the motorway for a half-hour and hope it all burns off.

poured half gallon petrol down it :shock: whilst off the bike lol and set it alight to burn s**t out etc still same tryed leavin oven cleaner in it over night still same
p.s its quite unnerving to see that amount of smoke will it catch light ?

I don't know what is funnier:

* The fact that you poured a half-gallon of petrol in the pipe to burn it off and then used oven cleaner

OR

* The fact that you did that rather than drill out the rivets and replace the packing ($5-$10 from any motorcycle shop) :)


What is burning now is probably the residue of the oven cleaner, which includes SOAP.

lol 0ne i aint got drill two anit got rivet gun thingy three its a temp end can so y would i want to go through all that s**t just to throw it away, 4 your a yank arnt u ? lmfco thats the real funny bit

Yank, haha, which means you must be British. Temp end-can? You know your British ass is going to engrave and gold-plate that end-can before you throw it away :)

Seriously though, you might try flushing the end-can only out with water from a garden hose, get all that soap out of there.
