Had a piston ring give up on me which has taken out the top of the piston and scored the barrel. I've ordered an LTH reed from JB and an oversize piston from MB and am getting the barrel rebored at a local motorcycle tuners. Talking to JB they recommend getting a boost port added and was wondering if it's possible to get the dimensions or measurements to give to the tuners to carry this out. Can you do that or would you need to know Lambretta engines. Cheers!

why not let jb do it he has already given you some free advice why not pay him back abit also why not get him to rebore it for the same reasons if something happens to this after 2-3 people meddle with it each will blame the other stick to one place and work at your relationship with them it will pay in the end through free advice a cuppa and maybe some discount or the loan a of a few small items such as jets or slides

Thanks for the advice, but it broke down saturday morning and I wrote my car off in the afternoon, not a good day, so I'm in a bit of a hurry. JB unfortunately is not local to me, the other place is a couple of old fellas who know their stuff just haven't any experience with scooters, apart from MOT's for me. I just thought it might be possible to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, I wish I had time to use 1 of the established tuners but I need it back on the road.
It was worth a try tho.

sorry to here about the day from hell. you could send the engine by courier, jb doesnt need the scooter there he can also dyno the engine for you and send it back to you the same way !
If your taking it to someone who doesnt know scooters specify the clearance and where to measure the piston to get the clearance

MB recommended 3 thou clearance, which is what they were saying would be be good, they do race bike tuning so I get the feeling they are experienced in this game. I am by no means in the class of the mechanics on here so wondered where should they be measuring?
It may be obvious to some but like I say I'm not in that league so it's always interesting to learn.
