Tool Or Tip To remove Fork Spring Stops

Is there a tool out there to hook the fork spring stops out? I've tried the coathanger and they ain't shifting, any tips or ideas anyone?

PS They haven't been melted from welding brackets on :wink:

I just use a length of threaded rod...12mm
screw it into old bush and then pull....... :D

i use a bent welding rod but a coat hanger will do the same a very tight 180 deg bend is what u need

I've always used an old gear cable and a screwdriver. Ill have to try the threaded rod next time though.

I'm off to B&Q to buy a length of threaded bar to put in my tool box. Might weld a couple of T handles on to make it easier.

Top tip thanks Keith and Sean. Wish I had thought of that when I last stripped my GP front end down, I couldn't move the bushes, I ran out of coat hangers trying.

Melting them may make it easier to get them out if they're really stuck. I did exactly that through ignorance and when stripping the forks the stops were melted around the springs. Replacement stops are not expensive.
