hi all, took scoot out for short ride and was splutering till i got enough revs up and it would clear so thought it was just still cold done another couple miles still doin it so i pulled over and gav it few blips like u do with the throttle to try and clear it , then it sounded like a backfire and dies on me, changed the plug and kicked it over now it fires an runs for 1 or 2 seconds and thats it , pushed it home and swaped and tested stator, flywheel, coil, lead, 5 plugs , 3 caps still same , so now the carb checked petrol flow that was fine carb is filling with fuel , cleaned all jets and they werent blocked , swaped an tested needle an slide, checked choke was going on an off , still same , but i hav noticed excessive vapours coming out of the carb when im trying to start it, but plug isnt really badly wet , so im thinking now hav the reed valves bust or not workin in some way ? your thoughts gents please

Have you checked your bulbs to see if they've blown? It could be your regulator, when mine packed in i lost power with the spluttering etc.

startin to lose the will to live lol when it fires into life it dies soon as u try to giv it throttle as if theres no fuel ?
p.s it only backfired the once when it first died, it dosnt do it when it fires up for couple seconds

ok then try this...
pour a couple of CC,s of petrol down the throat of the carb....
if all else is ok ,it should fire up a run for a bit....this would show that the prob maybe fuel supply related.
also ,does compression seem ok,
a dropped ring could be the cause....

looks like you will just have to strip it then....
but before you do .....just rotate flywheel back and forth by hand.....just to see what you may hear or feel.
