I thought about the new RT220 MB kits but then Mugello sounds suitable and cheaper
Mugello 225?
I'm building a new motor. I'd like to be able to do a true 65MPH comfortably and get up to the odd blast at 70. I'd like to use a 25 Dellorto and Clubman.
I thought about the new RT220 MB kits but then Mugello sounds suitable and cheaper
. Any pro's, cons, suggestions?

I have the RT220 kit and are very pleased with it, have a chat with Mark at MB first about what he thinks of the Mugello 225, then make our mind up!

Well he isnt gonna say its great is he.Any kit is going to be good if its got the holes in the right places and comes with a good piston and cylinder head.
Ive got the cheapest kit on the market but its been played with further and does the job and still only cost £200 although it was a couple of years ago.

have a ride on my mugello 225.....im not going to say its great either because its near to standard 200 power. its crap
do the maths, muggy plus a 60mm crank (assential aparently) plus tuning v rt kit.
the rt has a recessed head and an extra cooling fin so is safer. a forged piston, a safe on unleaded head and comes tuned already
or look at something else as the mugello is no going to give you 65mph all day.

I've had a Muggy 225 for a few years now without any trouble. I got it from Cam Lam and had it stage 5 reaper tuned as i heard out of the box performance wasn't great, things might have changed now though. When i had it dyno'd it made 18.5. It could perhaps be made quicker but it's ok for me. I use a 30 mm Dell`orto. About 2 years ago i did a 400 mile round trip in a day up and down the A1 at around 60mph most of the time (i was with Wellerchap on his Muggy 186 G.P) and i know the engine had more to go at. I think there o.k, but that's just my view
out of the box with a 25mm delly and clubman it put out 12bhp and was slower on the top speed than the indian stage 4 it replaced.
cant beat ali barrels in my opinion but just be warned it MUST be tuned if you go down that route.

I did the same in '05 and as above it's ran great, with 78mph (GPS) on the motorway two up with spare throttle. I haven't touched the engine in 5 years.
(I think I'm going to regret saying that)
