Long range tank

hi all, i have recently finished a course for welding/fitting at the worst time if year in the worst economy!!!! now unemployed while trying to find a job i have a project on the horizon. i finished restoring/customizing my '59 LI ser. 1 lambretta. now i have a plan for a new scoot. GP's aren't lurking around the corners here in canada so i have decided to make my own. i have a ser. 3 chrome ring frame and some gp bodywork. i have a good set of legshields, and a pair that were in an accident. i have a pair of TV1 chromed forks that were originally in my ser. 1, and a pair of gp panels and gp200 motor (mostly). And Li headset, though i think i'll use a gp headset as i already have a gp headset top.
so what i would like to do is instead of cutting my forks and fork tube and rewelding them to suit the legshields i would like to cut my legshields and graft in a section from the banged up legshields to suit the frame. i would also like to make a long range fuel tank. i have some time from looks of things and my girlfriends dad has a nice TIG welder i can use. has anyone made a tank themselves? any suggestions? measurments? blueprints? even frame blueprints? i have the filler neck and tap part that i got as spares from scooter restorations.
sorry for the long winded story just wanted to give an idea of what i'm up to and if anyone has advice etc. it's appreciated.
thanks
