When restoring my LI i opted for the original style, one piece, rubber, slide on panel buffers instead of the later clip on type. I had a real job getting them on.

Does anyone have a photo of how high they should sit? Cheers

I'm no expert but I thought the slide on rubber panel buffers were for the Series 1 & 2s :|

As far as i know early series 3's had them. Mine originally had them on when I got it as an unrestored wreck from Italy but in my haste to strip it down ;) I can't remember how high up the rear footboard support they are meant to go!?

Correct.
I would think they should be just below the bend in the support strut, the same area as the clip ons

they were standard fiting on early S3's

They fit just above the right angled rear floorboard support
