It now seems that many many owners of tuned Lambrettas won't leave home without an EGT. Could this be the next must-have gadget?

Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.
I have just ordered one of these for my RB engine. The EGT's are ok, but don't tell you what the problem is, only that you have a problem, if the temp suddenly shoots up. At least with this you can see if your mixture has gone pete tongue, due to an airleak / fuel starvation etc. I am not too sure these senders will live too long though, having read the blerb that came with the kit. The 2 stroke oil could well clog em up. Only time will tell. John at JB told me that you have to be sure that the sealant on the head / gaskets is the right type, as some coat the sender up with contaminates: something he experienced on his dyno. I will keep you posted, when i get it up and running though. However, i am having a full paint job so it might not be til spring.....
I don't want to keep up with modern traffic. I want to hoon past it, preferably on one wheel!

I was looking at one of these a while back until i read the instruction manual. Re. petrol/ oil mix
"The oxygen sensor in your K&N Air/Fuel Monitor assembly is not compatible with leaded fuels or any fuel additive containing lead. Leaded fuel will contaminate the oxygen sensor causing it to deliver a false reading. The Monitor can, however, be used to momentarily test an engine burning leaded fuel. Simply install the sensor - re-calibrate the fuel delivery system to deliver the desired air/fuel ratio - then remove the sensor to avoid prolonged exposure. This short term exposure will extend the useful life of the sensor when testing an engine burning leaded fuel, but eventually it will become contaminated. Once contaminated, the sensor must be replaced to restore the accuracy of your instrument. Additionally, since there is no efficient way to test the sensor, there is no way to determine the level of contamination. Therefore, we recommend periodically comparing a used sensor to a new one.
Other products that will contaminate or clog the sensor are:
• Gas/oil mixture • Injector or carburetor cleaners contain lead additives
• Octane boosters containing lead • Other “secret potionsâ€.
