gear selector arm stud?

anyone know where i can get the small conversion stud for a gp gear selector arm that i want to drill and tap out?

just get some 5mm bar, weld or braze it in, then cut a 5mm thread on stud to take a nut.

Is it possible just to use a small bolt, say 10 / 12 mm from beneath then grind down the head for clearance?
