Rebuilding a S2 LI 150,it has the later mag flange bearing and oilseal arrangement, but there is no oil thrower washer behind the front sprocket cush drive, is this normal for a series 2 case?, would an oil thrower washer fit ? in any event it would be better to fit the driveside bearing with the integral oil seal I guess, any ideas.?

It sounds like you have a SI engine casing. These did not have a dished oil thrower, and one cannot be fitted.

It is always better to fit the bearings with the integral oil seal (remove the oil seal on the side that will be lubricated by the gearbox oil).

I don`t know if it was just missing ...but in 1964 my mates 1960 Series 2 TV175 didn`t have one either....his TV was bought off an old boy then, who just poodled about town....it had all it`s servicing done during those four yrs. at Frank Bannisters garage at Chatham....so it should of been an original feature?...not being there i mean....

Just out of interest, exactly what purpose does the oil thrower washer serve, I assume it helps keep gearbox oil away from the drive side bearing oilseal, obviously Innocenti in their development must have decided that it was a possible weak spot.

i thought the oil throw ring was there to help oil that is splashed around that area to enter
the bearing the oil slids down the inside of the casing and enters the V shaped gap that the casing and the washer make then flows into the bearing maybe im wrong
